Life here is good. In Tara Preserve, our Orchid Cove Condominium Association is nestled between two ponds and their adjoining forested areas, accessed from the border street, Wingspan Way. Beautifully flowering Orchid trees along Wingspan Way quite naturally provide the Association with its name. Less than two blocks away, the Preserve Community Center and the The Preserve Golf Club beckon participants. In fact, the golf club’s fourth-green/fifth-tee frame the back side of Orchid Cove. Comprised of 12 buildings with a total of 48 residential units, the Association has its own pool/pool-house, as well as at least one alligator per pond (usually). Residents come from such far-away places as the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and Ontario, as well as from nine+ U.S. states coast-to-coast.
Located comfortably near the intersection of State Road 70 and I-75, Orchid Cove has quick and convenient access to local shopping centers Twelve Oaks Plaza and Creekwood Crossing. A wide mix of restaurants provide sustenance to shoppers at Publix, CVS, Lowe’s, Bealls and many other stores and gas stations. Speaking of shopping, Orchid Cove is only six miles/15 minutes from Florida’s newest and largest mall, University Town Center (UTC), at I-75 and University Park. The UTC boasts nearly 150 stores ranging from Saks Fifth Avenue to the Pottery Barn; from the Cheesecake Factory to Starbuck’s.
As for golf, we’re less than two blocks from the Preserve Golf Club’s clubhouse. A well-designed, challenging course, it has a men’s league and a ladies’ league that anyone can join. Within four miles are two other golf courses open to the public – Rosedale Golf & Country Club, and The River Club. And within 10 miles are two more public courses – River Run Golf Links, and Links at Greenfield Plantation. Within 20 minutes of Orchid Cove, there are many more public courses in the Bradenton/Sarasota area.
At Siesta Key, only 22 miles/35 minutes away, we have one of America’s top 10 beaches. A major attraction, the beach boasts a long and wide expanse of silky white sand with tranquil Gulf waters, and a two-story pavilion with ample parking. Catch its Sunday night Drum Circle, too! Siesta Key and the string of islands north through Lido Key, Longboat Key and Anna Maria Island(about 19 miles/40 minutes from Orchid Cove) provide easy access to additional ocean beaches and attractions. St. Armands Circle (on Lido Key) has more than 120 places for shopping, dining, and seeking services ranging from health to travel. And, at only 10 miles/20 minutes from the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, Orchid Cove is conveniently located for world-wide air travel.
